I was born in 1991. On the fifteenth of June. I had 15 years when I met you here in this picture. I was born in Panyie. It is far from here. Do you know there is a big tree in Lai- and that big tree has a big stone under the tree? When you reach the big tree, there is that road which goes on the left- that is the way to my place.

I first met Beatrice among the 40 000 residents of Padibe Internally Displaced Person’s Camp (IDP) in Kitgum District, Northern Uganda. I had previously documented the conflict in 2004 and 2005. This January of 2007 marked my first trip to the region since a cease-fire was signed 4 months before.
